CS Alka Kapoor

Chief Executive Officer

Ms. Alka Kapoor is the Chief Executive Officer-Designate of ICSI Insolvency Professionals Agency. Prior to this, she was holding the senior position of Joint Secretary in ICSI.

She has over 20 years of experience in the areas of Corporate Laws and Corporate Governance. She has contributed immensely in the drafting of the New Company Law and the Rules framed thereunder in India and has been advising the Ministry of Corporate Affairs on various matters of policies and regulatory framework.

She has contributed significantly in the pathbreaking initiatives of the ICSI in bringing out Secretarial Standards, inclusion of Secretarial Audit in Company Law, institution of ICSI Award on Excellence in Corporate Governance, PMQ Course on Corporate Governance, bringing out various publications of the Institute on Board of Directors, Independent Directors, Meetings, Board Committees, Corporate Governance, Ethics and Integrity, Board diversity, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate restructuring etc., ICSI’s significant contribution in the functioning of National Foundation for Corporate Governance, setting up of Corporate Secretaries International Association, collaborating partnerships with international bodies like Global Corporate Governance Forum, ICGN, OECD, IOD London, IOD Singapore, GRI etc

Ms. Alka Kapoor has been a regular participant at the OECD Asian Roundtable on Corporate Governance and was a moderator at OECD Roundtable on “Reform Priorities in Asia: Taking Corporate Governance to a Higher Level” held on October 3-4, 2011 at Bali, Indonesia. She was a lead discussant at the OECD Asian Roundtable on Corporate Governance held on October 29-30, 2015 at Bangkok, Thailand. She also represented the Institute of Company Secretaries of India at the OECD Conference on “Improving women’s access to leadership: What works?” held at Paris in March, 2016.

Ms. Alka Kapoor has been a Fellow Member of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and a Post Graduate in English Literature.

She has addressed various seminars and conferences on diverse subjects and has been a regular faculty in management and professional institutes. She has also regularly contributed articles in professional journals and magzines. Her areas of expertise include Companies Act, Board and Board Committees Duties, Roles, Responsibilities and Liabilities of Directors, Corporate Governance, Board Evaluation, Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability.


CS Lakshmi Arun

Head of Education & Training and Company Secretary 

Lakshmi Arun is a post graduate in commerce and a member of Institute of Company Secretaries of India. She has about two decades of combined experience with Corporate, one of big Four Consulting firm, Regulator and professional body.

She has worked for a listed Company and has handled a public issue as Compliance Officer. She has worked with Ernst & Young as Senior Associate, Corporate Advisory Services for about three years handling Company Law and FEMA Compliances of about 25 clients, besides assignments such as incorporation, setting up of branch office, FIPB applications etc.

She has also worked as Deputy Manager (Inspection and Surveillance) at Delhi Stock Exchange for about three years and have conducted the annual inspection of sub-brokers of DSE Financial Services, subsidiary of Delhi Stock Exchange and also a member of NSE and BSE.

She has been with ICSI for more than 10 years and is involved in academics and research activities. She has brought out a number of publications in the area of Capital Market, FEMA, Mergers & Amalgamation, Corporate Governance, Company Law, National Company Law Tribunal etc. She has been associated with the supporting initiatives of ICSI to Ministry of Corporate Affairs in drafting of Rules and Companies (Amendment) Acts.

Lakshmi has been working in the area of insolvency, especially in the last two years, in preparation of views of the institute on the Draft Bills, Supporting working groups of MCA in formulation of regulations, especially with reference to insolvency Professional and Insolvency Professional Agency. She has written the Manuscripts of a book titled ‘Corporate Bankruptcy –A Primer’

She is a visiting faculty at IICA for their training programme for probationary officers and senior technical assistants from Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
